Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
34 years
What is your primary product or service?
Christian Education PreK4 - Grade 12
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Went to college to become a certified teacher and then received my Master in Education to prepare to open a Christian School.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We don't really see ourselves as in competition with other Christian schools but rather as partners. We work faithfully to offer a Christ-centered atmosphere for our students. There are many distractions that would pull us from that primary mission if we are not careful.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One, no plans to expand
Provide detailed directions to your location
From Rt. 31 in Brockport, head north into the village. Turn left on Holley St. which is one intersection before the traffic light in the center of the village. Go one block and turn right onto Utica St. Our building fills the entire corner and there is parking on the Utica St. side.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, checks, credit cards and also offer a tuition collection company that will do invoicing or direct withdrawals from a family's account.
Which areas do you service?
All Monroe County school districts west of the city, and Orleans County districts as far west as Kendall and Albion are eligible for public school transportation. We welcome other families from the city or more distant districts, however, they will need to provide their own transportation.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
We are run by a school board but the school principal, Chris Johnson, is the person who oversees daily operations.
What are your hours of operation?
8:00 am to 5:00 pm
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
I don't know if I can narrow it to one, but having a student return telling us how well we prepared them for college is encouraging. The fact that our former students remain friends for life is also very positive. As I am also an ordained pastor, I have been pleased to officiate in the weddings of many or our students.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
James 2:20 "...faith without works is dead."
